GIFTePay is a third-party software used to process gift cards with processors that MicroSale does not offer a direct interface with currently. You must contact Datacap Systems to purchase and set up this software. This guide will walk you through the MicroSale setup ONLY, if you need further assistance with the GIFTePay software, you will need to contact Datacap Systems directly (http://www.datacapsystems.com/giftepay/).
How to set up GIFTePay
Requirements: Install the correct version/type of GIFTePay software per the processor. It is important to note that if more than one terminal will be processing gift cards that you purchase the “multilane” GIFTePay system as well as the correct number of lanes to process from.
- Go to Managers Menu > Register Setup > Credit Card Setup
- Type in the name of the gift card company/processor into the “Gift Card Company Name” field
- Type the computer name of the terminal hosting the GIFTePay software into both the “Primary Host Name” and “Secondary Host Name” fields
- Type in the 6-digit Merchant Account Number or Store ID into the “Merchant Account Number” field
- Leave the port set at the default value of “9100”
- Select “Save”, when finished
Repeat the above steps on each terminal. You must type the data exactly the same each time in order for the system to function properly.
It is also important to copy the GIFTePay shortcut into the Windows Startup folder so that the software will auto-launch when the terminal is rebooted.
How to set up a GIFTePay payment type
Go to the Managers Menu> Register Setup >Setup/Configuration > Tenders-Paid Outs-Customer Request-More
- Type “Gift Card” into the “Tender Name” field
- Select the checkbox for “Gift E-Pay”
- Select the “Save” button
Set up New Gift Card and Reload Gift Card buttons:
- Go to Managers Menu > Menu Maintenance > Menu Items and Pricing.
- Select “Gift EPay New Issue” for a new card or “Gift EPay Reload” for reloading.
- Enter a name into the “Menu Item Name” field (e.g., “New Gift Card” or “Reload Gift Card”).
- Optional: Select a category.
- Uncheck “Taxable”.
- Select the checkbox for “Enable Open Price.”
- Click “Save.”
Option 2: Reload an existing card
- Select “Gift EPay Reload” as the “Department”
- Enter a name into the “Menu Item Name” field such as “Reload Gift Card”
- Optional: Select a category
- Uncheck the “Taxable” checkbox
- Select the checkbox for “Enable Open Price”
- Select the “Save” button
Assign the new menu item(s) to a menu button:
- From within the Menu Items and Pricing screen, select the “Button Layout” button.
- Assign the new item to a button within a category.
- Select “Save” when finished.
Update (Supported in Version 10.0.7xx)

From Managers Menu-> Register Setup-> Setup/Configuration:
- Select “Edit Order Screen Buttons” from the toolbar at the top.
- Select “Gift Card Balance.”
- Select an empty position on the function button layout.
- Note: If no empty position is available, double-click on the one to replace it with “Gift Card Balance.”
- Select “Save” at the top-left to save the new layout.
