Paying with a Credit Card
- Verify the order with the customer and confirm the total.
- Tap Pay Order.
- Tap Credit Card.
- Insert the card when prompted.
- Once processed, the device will prompt the customer to remove the card.
- Transaction complete.
Adding Tips:
- On a tablet or rotating screen, flip it to the customer to add a tip at this stage.
- To add a tip later, after closing the check, tap Done.
Paying with Cash
Entering a Specific Cash Amount
- When you are finished entering an order, tap Pay
- Enter the cash amount using the keypad.
- Then tap the Cash button.
- If the amount is correct, tap Accept Amount.
- If incorrect, tap Redo Amount and try again.
Paying with Exact Cash
- If the customer provides the exact amount, simply tap Cash.
- Tap Accept Amount to finalize.
Quick Cash Buttons:
- Use the Quick Cash buttons for faster entry (e.g., $5, $10).
- Tap buttons multiple times to add up amounts.
- Keep track of the total via the Payment Amount at the top of the screen.
Splitting Payments (Partial Payments)
To split a transaction across multiple payment types (e.g., Cash, Gift Card, Credit Card):
- Enter the first payment amount using the keypad.
- Verify the amount via the Payment Amount display.
- If incorrect, tap Clear Tender or Start Over to reset and re-enter.
- Tap the Payment Type (e.g., Cash, Gift Card).
- The button updates to show the entered amount.
- The Balance Due updates to reflect the remaining amount.
- Repeat for additional payment types:
- Enter the next partial amount (if needed) and select the appropriate payment type.
- For Credit Card payments, follow the prompts to process the card.
- The payment screen will close automatically once the full balance is paid.
Reset Options:
- Tap Start Over to clear all payments and start fresh.
- Tap Clear Tender to undo the last payment applied.
Paying with a Check
Note: Verify with your restaurant operator if checks are accepted.
- Complete the customer’s order and read it back to confirm accuracy.
- Tap Pay Order.
- Confirm the check amount matches the exact purchase amount.
- Avoid accepting checks for more than the sale amount to prevent cash returns.
- From the Payment Screen, tap Check.
- The cash drawer will open. Place the check inside.
- Transaction complete.
[Optional Setting] Onscreen Customer-facing Tip Prompt
If you are using a tablet or rotating screen, you can flip this screen to the customer to add a tip now. Or, tap Done and you can add the tip later, after the check is closed.
Setup: Register Options > Terminal Configuration > Full Service > "EMV Prompts For Tip"
Alternatively, you can set the EMV Device to prompt for a tip.:
Setup: Register Options > Terminal Configuration > Credit Card > PAX Setup (or Datacap EMV Setup) "Tip Line Is" = set to "Prompt"
