If you run the install file manually, you will see the error message (attached),
The specified directory, “C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\”, for the INSTALLSHAREDDIR parameter is not valid because this directory is compressed or is in a compressed directory. Specify a directory that is not compressed.
Solution:
- Browse to the directory, “C:\Program Files\”, and find the folder “Microsoft SQL Server”
- Right click on the folder, “Microsoft SQL Server” and go to Properties
- When the Properties folder opens, where it says “Attributes”, select “Advanced”
- In the Advanced Attributes folder, make sure “Compress contents to save disk space” is not checked, if it is checked, uncheck this option
- Select for all folders and sub-folders
- When the conversion is finished, you can run the SQL Batch Installation file and the install will finish
