Effortlessly link and launch external programs seamlessly from the order screen in MicroSale. This functionality provides convenient entry points to third-party applications, including remote support access, reservation and loyalty platforms, scheduling tools, and any other essential systems accessible through your POS interface.
Step 1: Creating Paths to Execute External Programs
- Create a Configuration File: Generate a text file named AddOnPrograms.dat (or use the attached sample)
- File Placement: Add the created text file to the Dat Files folder within the MicroSale Directory
- Edit the Configuration File:
- Inside the text file, input the exact name used in MicroSale (in Menu Items and Pricing) and enclose in quotation marks.
- Add a comma, followed by the path to the executable file (or website), again within quotation marks.
- This file can include multiple links to various programs. Each button/link should be on a separate line in the text file, formatted as follows:
"button name","path to executable"
Attached is a sample dat file that can be used.
Example:
"Start TeamViewer","C:\Program Files (x86)\TeamViewer\TeamViewer.exe"
Ensure that this configuration file is added to all desired terminals, as the settings are individually register-based.
Creating the item/button in MicroSale:
- Go to Managers Menu > Menu Maintenance > Menu Items and Pricing
- Input the name for the button (that will call the external program)
- Assign the name to the department of Link, located in the dropdown menu
- Assign the name to any category; Buttons can be placed in any category and on any screen.
- No additional settings on that page are required (e.g., price, tax, etc.).
- Save
- Go to the Button Layout and assign it to a button (you can tap on All Categories to place this name on multiple category screens).
