How to purchase PAX devices:
There are several retailers that sell PAX, such as JRs Depot. You may also have options to purchase devices through your preferred credit card processor.
What needs to be known about the encryption when ordering the PAX pin pads?
With PAX, no encryption is needed when ordering the pin pads unless you plan on using them for EBT and/or Pin Debit
What needs to be loaded?
When ordering, no load is needed. You will need to reach out to PAX to get a login for the PAXStore. The PAXStore is where you will program your PAX terminals that you purchase. You can also have MicroSale's tech support program them for a flat fee per device.
Does it need to have a debit key?
No, only if you plan on using them for EBT and/or Pin Debit
What Hub Cable is needed?
The PAX S300 needs a cable run. PAX S300 uses ethernet and it comes with the necessary cabling (other than the LAN cable run that will need to be done at the store)
How do I register it with my reseller.PAXStore.us account?
You will use the the serial number on the devices and register it to your paxstore account
What App from the App List do we use?
The appropriate app is listed on the VAR sheet that is provided by the processor. It is usually going to be 'restaurant'.
How do I load that App on the device?
It downloads automatically once you set it up on the paxstore
How does the VAR Sheet play into this?
You will program the merchant parameters from the VAR sheet into the device through the paxstore (programming the device using the device's serial number). The VAR sheet (or merchant parameters) are not inputted through the POS system.
What VAR Sheet (to fill out) do I need to give the credit card processor to get me the correct information?
You can simply tell them PAX or MicroSale
Does each device need its own terminal ID?
Usually, a new TID is required for each device. MID (Merchant ID) is usually the same with First Data. You will need to register a new Datawire for each TID.
How can I enable tip prompt during the transaction on the PAX S300 or on the POS terminal screen?
Tip prompt only works with Sale/Adjust. The tip prompt does not work if you are using preauth/preauthcapture.
