Modifier Prefixes
In the modifier setup area, an exclamation (!) mark will turn a modifier into a prefix (word that goes in front of another modifier name). You can create a prefix for any modifier name but it is limited to 4 characters. So, !Xtra, !Lite, !No, !Sub, !OnSd, etc. With that in mind, !No and !Sub will ALWAYS strip off the price associated with a modifier. If the customer is ordering “No” or “Sub”, they are not getting that ingredient on the menu item. This also works if you put a dash (-) in front of the prefix; ex: !-Side.
With
This function can only be used when selecting more than one quantity. For example, a taco restaurant has a menu item of “taco”.
In the modifier screen, type in the word With. (Capital W, this is just the word, not a prefix).
The user pressed the quantity “2”, the With Key will appear on the modifier window allowing different modifications for both tacos.
This word will only show up on the modifier screen if the Quantity bar is selected with a quantity greater than 1. Make sure that the Order as Programmed flag is NOT checked. When ordering, press the With button first to enable the quantity bar at the bottom of the modifier screen.
Modifier Spaces
Invisible buttons are used as spacers for modifiers. By typing in Invisible, a space will be added. This is triggered by the word Invisible. You cannot have the same name listed twice in a modifier group so make sure they are numbered if you are putting in multiple Invisibles - Invisible1, Invisible2, etc.
Modifier Keyboard
In a modifier group, type the word Keyboard as a modifier name to prompt a keyboard. Type in Keyboard$ if you need the keyboard function to prompt an upcharge. ***YOU CANNOT USE THIS FUNCTION WITH GREEN BUTTONS***
- Keyboard prompts a keyboard for the user to type in a modifier name
Keyboard$ prompts a keyboard for the user to type in a modifier name followed by a keypad to enter an upcharge amount
