Printing a coupon on the bottom of a receipt for every other transaction

This feature is used to place messages and or coupons at the bottom of a receipt based on a specific number of transactions. This feature uses the event called, “Have One On Me”.

In this example, we want a "Free Dessert" to be printed for every 5th customer. Part 1- Creating the "Have One On Me" Discount Go to: Managers Menu > Discounts, Gratuity and Maintenance

1. Create a discount name, select a discount type and an amount
2. You MUST select the category as “Issue Coupon”. All other fields are customizable to whichever you would like them to be. You can limit the days/times it is available. You can limit it to certain items as well.
3. Assign a “Discount ID” to the coupon
4. Then click on the “Have One on Me Menu” button on that same screen. Create a name for it and assign an access level. Use the same “Discount ID”, for the “Link Code Number”.
5. Save

Part 2 - Setting up the coupon to print on the receipt

1. Go to the Manager’s Menu > Messages Menu > Random Messages/Coupons
2. Type in the name of your random message or coupon, such as Free Dessert under Transaction Events
3. You can select “All Registers” or a specific one.
4. Choose how you want to count the frequency of the transactions (do you want this message to print based on the number of transactions for the entire restaurant (All Registers) or do you want the message to appear on the Nth time for each register?)
5. If this event should only be activated during specific times/days, choose the designed Timed Event name from the Timed Event drop-down menu.
6. In the “Select type” area, check the box next to all messages/coupons that you would like to see associated with this Transaction Event

How to redeem the coupon

To redeem the coupon, create another discount just as you did to issue the coupon on the receipt but this this time the Category needs to be set to 'Coupon' and you need check the box for the option that says 'Coupon Number Tracking'. When the customer is ready to redeem the coupon you select the discount you created to redeem the coupon under the discounts button on the order screen. When you do you'll be prompted to scan or type in the coupon code.

To manually attached the "Have one on me" coupon or Message to Check

1. From the Order Screen, press the Attach Coupon function button
2. Select the reason for the coupon from the list of available reasons
3. Select the coupon from the list of available coupons
