“Tips not allowed” or “transaction failed” when trying to add a tip

This error generates when tips are not supported through the processor or device. Please check for the following:

1. Make sure the account is set to “Restaurant” and not “Retail”. Quite often the processor inadvertently sets the merchant to retail.
2. If you are using PAX EMV devices, make sure tips are enabled in Broadpos:
   1. In Broadpos, go to EDC Tab >Credit Features > set Allow tips to "enabled". If this was disabled, double check with the processor to make sure they have the account set to accept tips.
