Your restaurant may have multiple bartenders sharing the same register and all accessing a single (or two) cash drawer(s). MicroSale has multiple options to allow you to choose the best setup for your environment. Please view the options below to determine the best solution for your restaurant.
Sharing a drawer, sharing tips, and sharing tabs
When an employee is assigned to a cash drawer, the order screen can only be accessed by that specific employee and management (all other employees can only clock in or out on the register). If multiple employees (or bartenders) are using the same terminal and cash drawer plus sharing tips, assign a generic audit to the cash drawer such as “AM Bartenders”. The generic audit will also combine all credit card tips in one place to allow for easy distribution at the end of the shift.
If you have multiple employees sharing multiple registers, you will need to use 1 generic audit per register (such as AM Bartender1 and AM Bartender2). You cannot login to multiple registers with the same login # simultaneously.
Creating generic audits:
- Create an employee with the generic name such as First Name “AM” and Last Name “Bartender”
- Assign “AM Bartender” to the proper job title of bartender and tick the checkbox for tipped Assign an access level (bartender) and a primary access number.
- Choose something short that is easily entered and remembered by staff (such as “1” or “0”)
- Save
Sharing one drawer but collecting tips separately
By default, when an employee is assigned to a cash drawer, the order screen can only be accessed by that specific employee and management (all other employees can only clock in or out on the register).
To allow each bartender to login separately and share the cash drawer, set the following option on each register:
- Managers Menu > Register Setup > Terminal Configuration > Printer/Cash Drawer (top toolbar) > tick the option Drawer #1 Opens for all cashiers > Save > Exit
This option allows multiple bartenders to ring in tabs/tables under their own login number and keep their sales/tips separate from all other bartenders.
If bartenders SHOULD NOT have access all tabs/tables started from other employees, set the following option on each register:
- Managers Menu > Register Setup > Terminal Configuration > Full Service > Additional Options > tick the checkbox Turn off tab sharing on bar screen (bartenders only see their tabs) Save > Exit
Setting the terminal to not log out after an order is entered / disabling the logout timer:
By default, the system automatically logs out after an order (or tab is entered). For speed of service, you can set the register to stay logged in. To stay on the order screen (or server menu) after tabs/tables are entered, set the following option on each register: Managers Menu > Register Setup > Terminal Configuration > Full Service > under “Bar Station”, tick the checkbox Return to server / bar screen after order > Save > Exit
By default, the system automatically logs out after 30 seconds of inactivity. To stay on the order screen, set the following option on each register:
- Managers Menu > Register Setup > Terminal Configuration > Full Service > next to “Hold the server screen open for (seconds)” change the dropdown from 30 to 0. Zero (0) disables the register from logging out.
