To ensure efficient order preparation and timely delivery, you can set default production times, or preparation times (how long it takes to cook and prepare the order). This feature automatically releases pending orders to the kitchen printers or kitchen video system based on your specified prep-time.
Immediate Pickup or Delivery
Orders placed for immediate pickup or delivery, automatically release to the kitchen without any additional steps.
Scheduled Orders
Scheduled orders (day-of or future date), automatically release at a certain amount of time before the customer is scheduled to arrive for pickup or the promised delivery time. The automated delivery time is a function of MicroSale's in-house delivery platform when you use your own drivers or contract drivers through BiteHeist or OLO, that uses Doordash Drive.
Configure Production Time
The production time, also known as the prep time, determines when the order is released to the kitchen. By setting a specific number of minutes prior to the scheduled pickup or delivery time, you can control the timing of order preparation. For example, if you set a 20-minute production time, the order will be released to the kitchen 20 minutes before it is due. In case the setting is set to 0, the order will release to the kitchen as soon as it is placed, and it will be up to your staff to ensure proper timing.
Setting up auto-releasing orders
To streamline the process further, you have the option to enable 'Auto Release Pending Order.' This setting automatically releases the order without requiring any human interaction. Without this setting, an employee must manually release the order when prompted by the 'Release Order' message on the POS screen. **Important setup instructions for auto-release**
Integrated Online Ordering
Orders placed through our integrated online ordering system follow the same functionality as standard phone orders. During the customer's checkout process, online orders must be paid online to proceed.
Additional Information:
When using auto release pending orders, orders will automatically print a specified number of minutes before the customer's scheduled pickup/arrival time.
If auto release is not set, the 'Release Order' message will flash on the screen when the order is within the default production time. You can manually release the order to the kitchen by touching 'Release Orders' on the POS screen.
To configure auto release pending orders:
Access the Manager's Menu > Register Setup > Terminal Configuration > Register Options > Phone Orders > Auto Release Pending Orders > Save
Make sure to only set the release pending orders on one terminal to avoid multiple prints of the same order.
To change the default production time across all terminals:
Access the Manager's Menu > Register Setup > Terminal Configuration > Register Options > Phone Orders > Change the number of minutes > Save
By following these steps, you can effectively manage your order production times and ensure a smooth operation in your establishment.
